Applied Kinesiology and Listening to the Horse

Applied kinesiology and how it can help in your journey into listening to the horse. Applied kinesiology was the tool that I first used to learn to connect and listen to the horses, and to this day even with all the new skills I have acquired, I fall back on it often to bring more clarity.

What do we receive when we start to listen?

It goes by many names: Applied kinesiology, AK, muscle testing, pendulum test.

Applied kinesiology (AK) was developed by a Chiropractor, DR. George Goodheart Jr., in 1964.  To this day it is used by chiropractors, as well as many other practitioners of complementary therapy.  The theory behind applied kinesiology is that when the body or system is presented with something, it either has a negative or positive affect on the body.  Something that is compatible with the body will create a strong muscle response, and conversely something that is not compatible with the body will have a weak muscle response.  Practitioners will often use this system to test muscle groups, joints, structure, organs, etc. This helps to give them insight (along with clinical evaluation) to what is occurring within the body.

There are many different ways to muscle test. The pendulum test is one that I find to be the easiest to teach. Check out this video to see how the pendulum test works https://youtu.be/IQmfuTdq4Oo.

In my practice, applied kinesiology is another tool used to gather information and listen to the horse (or ourselves).  I use the concept that the body responds positively to something that is compatible with it and vice versa.  I can pose statements to a horse (or myself) and either get a strong muscle response or a negative muscle response.  I set the intent that a strong muscle response equals a yes to the statement posed and a weak response equals a no to the statement.  This process provides a way to gather information from the horse and allow them to lead me down their own path.

For example, you can ask the horse:

  • ‘I have permission to connect with you today’

and I would get either a weak or strong muscle response; therefore giving me an answer to the statement posed:

  • ‘You would like to address your chakra system today’
  • ‘Body work is an appropriate direction to proceed with today’
  • ‘The right gluteus medius muscle is strong’
  • ‘Now is a good time to address the gluteus medius
  • ‘Massage is an appropriate tool to address the gluteus medius at this time’
  • ‘Magnets are an appropriate tool to address the gluteus medius at this time’
  • ‘Energy is an appropriate tool to address the gluteus medius at this time’

You get the idea!

With this system set up, there are so many possibilities!  With the appropriate intent set, clarity in your statements and an open mind, you are well on your way to listening to the horse.

Why do I continue to fall back on muscle testing?

It is a physical affirmation to intuitive messages. Sometimes when we are not balanced, or unsure of our intuitive nudges, it helps to have a way to get clearer messages.  By using AK we get an actual physical response, giving us more clarity on what the answers and messages are.

Even though everyones journey is their own, and there is not one right way to learn how to listen and receive messages, applied kinesiology was a place to start for me.

It was a wonderful bridge from the world of science and the mind, into the world of energy, heart, and intuition.  It unknowingly and beautifully bridged a large gap between these two worlds for me and made it easier to ‘believe’ and receive.

As humans, we often search for proof to believe the messages we are receiving, especially when starting out.  applied kinesiology was a wonderful tool that provided that proof for me.  My hope is that it could be helpful to you as well, in your journey to listening to the horse.

This is one of many tools I use in my practice.  I hope to go into more detail of what has worked me, as time goes on.
